Front Range Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Program Director George Newman is being recognized for years of effort in supporting workforce development on Colorado’s Front Range.
The award is part of the Colorado Manufacturing Awards program, which brings together business leaders in a celebration of the modern manufacturing economy—a “multi-industry, consumer and technology-driven sector reshaping America’s rich industrial legacy.”
The Manufacturing Advocate of the Year winner will be a person from industry, education, or the public sector whose advocacy for manufacturing deserves special recognition. Newman was selected by CMA organizers as the education finalist.

“George’s advocacy for manufacturing and his tireless work to create career opportunities for students—and workforce solutions for Colorado business—are exemplary,” according to Bart Taylor, Founder and Publisher of CompanyWeek, which presents the awards each year.
The CMAs work closely with Colorado trade and industry groups to publicize the opportunity, reach out to industry companies, develop criteria and encourage companies to nominate. Criteria vary across industries to reflect operating conditions, company differences, and market attributes.
Newman will be honored—and the winner will be announced—at the 4th annual Colorado Manufacturing Awards on April 4th, 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at the Cable Center in Denver. The CMAs are presented by CompanyWeek, digital media reporting on the regional manufacturing economy; and Manufacturers Edge, Colorado’s Manufacturing Extension Partner for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
