Dr. Kim Dale and Dr. Shashi Unnithan have been named deans of instruction at the Larimer Campus of Front Range Community College.
Dr. Kim Dale
Dale, who lives in Fort Collins, joins the Larimer Campus from her position as dean of instruction at FRCC’s Westminster Campus. She will oversee the departments of Mathematics, Integrated Technology, and College Now, which is the campus co-enrollment option for high school students.
Unnithan, also a Fort Collins resident, has been chair of the Natural, Applied, and Environmental Sciences

Department at the Larimer Campus. She will oversee the departments of Nursing; Allied Health and Education, and Natural, Applied, and Environmental Sciences.
“Kim and Shashi have been leaders throughout their academic careers,” said Bruce Walthers, vice president of the Larimer Campus. “Each has a strong work ethic and a spirit of collaboration.”
Dale and Unnithan join Dr. Lisa Donaldson as deans of instruction. Donaldson oversees the departments of Business, Arts and Letters, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
While a dean at the Westminster Campus, Dale was a member of the Adams County Education Consortium. Before joining FRCC, Dale was dean of college outreach at Arapahoe Community College, where she also taught management and marketing. While at Arapahoe, she led and organized all aspects of a campus visit by Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, including working with White House staff and serving as public information officer.
Dale has a Bachelor of Science in business education from Metropolitan State College (now University) of Denver, a Master of Science in management and organization from the University of Colorado-Denver, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and human resource studies with a specialization in community college leadership from Colorado State University.
Unnithan has been a chemistry faculty member since 1996, and chair of the Department of Natural, Applied and Environmental Sciences since 1999. She received the Colorado Community College System Faculty of the Year award in 2005, and the Front Range Community College President’s Award in 2008. She has attended and presented at regional and national conferences.
She has a Master of Science in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and an MBA from Colorado State University. She worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas and the University of Colorado-Boulder. She was a scientist at CSU before moving to FRCC.
