As we enter the holiday season, it’s a good time to pause, take a breath in the middle of a busy semester and remember the things that matter: Family, friends, community and even a good plate of tamales.

This year, we asked students and staff from across FRCC’s three campuses what they’re grateful for.

Family, Friends and the People We Care About

Many in the FRCC community shared heartfelt appreciation for the people who support them, citing those who show up to cheer them on and make the journey possible.

“I am grateful for my family and friends—and tamales.”
Alexa Valdez, Criminal justice student

“I’m thankful for my family and my friends, because they have always supported me throughout my life, been there for me and are understanding.”
Emma Vazquez, Science student

“I’m grateful for my grandma and just my family in general. My grandma’s been very helpful and supportive with my schooling and career more than anybody. A really good support system has been very helpful, and I’m very thankful for that.”
Brianna Summers, Surgical technology student

“I’m thankful for a lot of things, but mainly for my family, the TRIO space for being there for me and for the people around me who helped me get through life. I’m very thankful for everything that I have.”
Jose Perez, Chemical engineering student

“I am grateful for my family and friends, specifically my mom, and all of the support that they’ve given me, especially through the last couple of years.”
Michael Pietroiacovo, Motion graphics and video student

Around FRCC: Professors, Peers and Campus Life

Some students shared gratitude for the people they learn from and the campus community that surrounds them each day.

“I’m thankful for my professors and my teachers this semester. They just put a lot of effort into the curriculum, education, making sure that everything’s going smoothly and making sure that everybody is doing well.”
Mia Johnson, Engineering student

“I’m really grateful for the academic advisors and instructors here. It’s an amazing group of professors. I’m also grateful for my health and the wonderful weather we have here in Colorado, the student body and all the clubs that are available, which really make this academic experience great.”
Dusty Blevins, Business for creative industries student

“This building is my second home, and we’re just one big beehive, and everybody here is great. I love working here. I love going to school here.”
Andrew Gress, Interim Westminster Campus Safety Supervisor, Behavioral health and wellness student

Finding Joy in Little Things

And thankfulness doesn’t always have to be deep.

“I’m thankful for the video game Peak I play with my friends. You just have to hike up a mountain and reach the top, and there’s a lot of crazy stuff that can happen along the way!”
Chloe Jones, Business administration student

Gratitude for Health and Opportunity

Finally, some shared appreciation for personal well-being and growth.

“I’m grateful for my health and for my family through this holiday season.”
Tim Mellon, Senior Director, Student Life and Engagement

“I’m thankful for Front Range Community College… I’ve been an employee here for going on four years now, and now I’m a student here as well.”
Andrew Gress, Interim WC Campus Safety Supervisor, Behavioral Health and Wellness student

Happy Thanksgiving, FRCC!

Whether it’s family, friends, professors, a favorite game or the community that makes FRCC feel like home, gratitude reminds us that we’re all connected. Thank you to everyone who shared with us.
