Monica Ramirez

Dr. Monica Ramirez is a new dean of instruction at Front Range Community College’s Westminster Campus.

With three other deans of instruction, she will lead and oversee 30 fields of study and 25 career/technical programs.

For the past six years, Ramirez has been dean of academic affairs at the North Campus of the 65,000-student Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward College. The Aspen Institute has recognized Broward College as one of the top 10 community colleges in the country in 2013.

Ramirez earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in geosciences and in English and a Master of Science in geosciences from Ludwig-Maximilian University-University of Munich in Germany, an Education Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and a Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology from the University of Wyoming.  Ramirez lived and worked in Germany and Brazil for many years prior to moving to the United States.

Ramirez is actively involved with the geoscience community as demonstrated in her ongoing service as a National Science Foundation (NSF) Merit Reviewer, NSF grant recipient, and nomination for the Florida Governor’s Award in Environmental Education. Ramirez served two terms as the editor of the Earth Scientist publication for the National Earth Science Teachers Association and currently serves as editor for the Association for Women Geoscientists GAEA publication as well as language editor for Versita, Central European Science Publishers.
