All donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by FRCC Foundation to support future frontline heroes.

The annual Gift of Love Fundraiser (GOLF) will gather donations this year for scholarships to Front Range Community College students in the school’s health care programs and police academy.

“First responders and front-line health care workers have been there for our community throughout the pandemic,” said Suna Thomas, organizer of the fundraiser. “But we know there’s a shortage of nurses and other providers, so we want to do whatever we can to help out FRCC’s students who are dedicating themselves to this critical work.”

It all started as a small fundraiser organized by the Harmony Club neighborhood in Timnath. Each year, an intrepid group of neighbors banded together during the holiday season to raise money for a different local cause—totaling more than $150,000 over the last seven years.

Double Your Donation

GOLF has now grown to include support from people all over the Fort Collins area—and last year alone, the effort raised $25,000. That amount was matched dollar-for-dollar by FRCC, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative. The end result: $50,000 going directly to scholarships in FRCC’s health care programs for students who have financial need.

This year, GOLF organizers have set an ambitious goal to raise $50,000 through their northern Colorado fundraiser. The FRCC Foundation will then match every dollar donated to the GOLF fundraiser—meaning individual donations will effectively double.

$100,000 for Scholarships

“This is a great chance to get twice your money’s worth for your charitable donation,” said Foundation Executive Director Ryan McCoy. “You can help us raise a total of $100,000 for our local nursing, EMT and police academy students who have financial need.”

The total fundraiser goal of $100,000 will provide:

  • Four full-ride nursing scholarships, plus
  • 60 nursing/EMT/paramedic awards.
