Dr. Jana Schwartz has been appointed dean of student services at the Larimer Campus of Front Range Community College.

The dean of student services oversees the staff and delivery of services in such areas as Advising, Counseling and Career Services; Admissions and Records; Cashiers; Recruitment and Outreach; Student Life, and Veterans Services. The dean also works with the campus instructional deans to develop goals, services, and strategies to support student success.

“Jana has the right combination of educational preparation and relevant experience to lead our Student Services division,” said Bruce Walthers, vice president of the Larimer Campus.

Schwartz was program director for the Center for Human Enrichment at the University of Northern Colorado, leading retention and academic success programs for first generation, low-income and underrepresented students. Schwartz also has worked in residential education at the University of Missouri and the University of Wisconsin.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Central College in Iowa, a Master of Arts in student development from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in higher education and student affairs leadership at UNC.

She succeeds Dr. Kris Binard, now FRCC’s associate vice president of enrollment management and student success. Dr. Kathy MacKay, former vice president of student services at Metropolitan State University of Denver, served as interim dean during the search for a successor.
