We’ve seen firsthand in 2020 how important health care workers are. Health care is a high-growth industry across the United States, and at FRCC, we’ve noticed rising demand for our strong programs in several fields.
There are many excellent health care programs offered at FRCC. We even recently opened a new Health Care Careers Center (called Grays Peak) to house all of our allied health and nursing programs at the Larimer Campus. That includes everything from nursing to dental assisting, from emergency medical services to medical assisting, and much more.
Our unique integrative health & massage therapy program has attracted students from around the United States. The program is known for its multiple accreditations. Students can seek the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and embed several certificates into it, or simply choose to pursue one or more individual certificate programs:
A.A.S. in Integrative Health Professions
This program prepares students to practice in areas such as aromatherapy, massage therapy, wellness coaching, reflexology, yoga and energy work. It’s a versatile degree that helps students set up their own practice or work with other professionals in wellness clinics, hospitals and various other health care settings.
Massage Therapy Certificate
Currently on pause until 2021 because of COVID-19, this program prepares students to become licensed massage therapists in the state of Colorado by taking the national certification exam through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. The certificate is accredited by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
Aromatherapy Certificate
This program is accredited by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA). It prepares students to safely use and apply essential oils for therapeutic benefits.
Integrative Health Professions Certificate
A shorter integrative health program prepares students with foundational knowledge of alternative health therapies, as well as the concepts of holism and health prevention. It is a great “add-on” program for nurses, various therapists, nutritionists, massage therapists and others already working in health care, wellness or similar areas.
Reflexology Certificate
Currently on pause until 2021 due to COVID-19, the reflexology certificate introduces students to this non-invasive form of acupressure. It prepares students to take the national certification exam from the American Reflexology Certification Board and receive professional membership status with Reflexology Association of America (RAA).
Yoga Teacher Certificate
FRCC’s renowned yoga teacher program is certified by Yoga Alliance. Graduates are prepared to earn RYT200 level certification.
Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching Certificate
When this program began in 2015, it was one of only 50 programs accepted as an approved board-certified transition program under the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching. It can be a shorter pathway to the exciting, emerging field of health and wellness and corporate wellness coaching for those students who already have at least a two-year degree and are seeking to augment their current experience and education. Otherwise, students can enroll in the Integrative Health A.A.S. degree and simultaneously work on the coaching certificate to be eligible to take the national exam and become a board certified coach.
Programs of Distinction in Colorado
When FRCC’s integrative health & wellness coaching certificate program gets approved in January 2021 as a National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching approved training program, it will stand alongside other excellent programs around the country, including Duke University’s integrative health coach professional training program, Georgetown University’s certificate in health and wellness coaching and Arizona State University’s health and wellness coach certificate, along with many others.

You Can Transfer
While the integrative health programs at FRCC are standalone programs, there are several articulation agreements in place for transfer into specific bachelor’s degree programs at certain colleges and universities. If your goal is to earn higher-level medical training and degrees, the program director and your FRCC advisor can tell you more about this option.
