Life is pretty unpredictable right now, but there’s one thing you can definitely count on: FRCC is still offering a full slate of classes. And while many classes are online, other classes are available on campus. If you like the sound of that—and you like learning by doing— you might want to explore some of our career-technical programs, which offer hands-on education in high-demand fields.
122 Career-Technical Programs
Career-technical programs prepare students for jobs, and many certificates can be completed in just one semester. Even better, FRCC regularly adds programs based on the job market in Colorado. In other words, many of our degrees and certificates are developed as a result of industry demand, and we even have partnerships with Colorado companies and organizations that advise on our curriculum and hire students for internships and jobs.
What kinds of career-technical programs are available?
- Healthcare programs such as Phlebotomy, Sterile Processing, Nurse Aide and Massage Therapy.
- Skilled trades, such as Automotive Technology and HVAC&R.
- Advanced manufacturing programs like those offered at our new Center for Integrated Manufacturing in Longmont. Students can choose from Automation and Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Precision Machining, and Optics Technology.
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics programs such as GIS and Geospatial Science, Horticulture and Landscape Technologies, and Forestry and Natural Resources.
- Business, computer, and cybersecurity fields.

As mentioned, the nature of some of our career-technical programs is such that students are able to learn on campus.
A Safe Learning Environment
When classes are in person, we’re taking every precaution to keep students safe and learning. We follow guidance from local, state, and national health experts and have implemented policies regarding mask wearing, sanitization, and social distancing in our classrooms and throughout our campuses.
Start Here, Continue Elsewhere
While our career-technical programs are intended to get people working as soon as possible, for some students these programs spark an interest in further learning. That’s great, and many students who start at FRCC end up transferring to four-year colleges and universities.
We even offer two bachelor’s degrees which students can earn without going elsewhere. One is an RN-to-BSN completion program. The other is a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geospatial Science, which was created to meet the significant demand for students in this broad field. It prepares students to perform geospatial science-based work using various technologies including GIS, remote sensing, programming, databases, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and global navigation satellite system (GNSS). So, you could try out the GIS certificate and if you like it, consider the B.A.S. program.
