The history of FRCC’s Boulder County Campus is a story of many locations and enrollment growth.
The campus, now located at 2190 Miller Drive in Longmont, had its start with night classes in public schools in Longmont and Boulder beginning in 1982. In 1990, FRCC opened the Boulder Valmont Campus on Wilderness Place.
As student enrollment grew, the Valmont Campus became too small. FRCC moved to Boulder’s Gunbarrel area, becoming the North Boulder Campus.
In the meantime, classes also were offered in various locations in Longmont, ending up on Longmont’s North Main Street.
In 2003, the sites were combined at the current campus near Hover Road and the Diagonal in southwest Longmont.
The campus has grown since, as has enrollment. The campus added an Advanced Technology Center, also on Miller Drive, and renovated its existing facilities.
That’s a quick history of the campus, which will celebrate the college’s 50th anniversary on from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, with Brew & Q.
