Manufacturers in the NoCo Manufacturing Partnership introduced students to manufacturing in Fort Collins this month.
As a result of this partnership with manufacturers, educators, county workforce centers and others, more than 80 Poudre School District students from Fort Collins, Fossil Ridge, Poudre and Rocky Mountain high schools attended tours at FiberLok Inc., In-Situ, Sears Trostel Lumber, and Walker Manufacturing.
Students left with a better idea of career options in Northern Colorado. In a post-tour survey, a student said the most valuable part of the tour was “being able to be hands-on with our experience and the importance of everyone’s job. The people were great and answered all questions.” Another student said, “You will actually use math for things in the real world.” Another comment said “talking to the people who actually make it happen” was valuable.
A couple of students talked with a manager about summer internship possibilities.
Companies were enthusiastic about showcasing their facilities, products and people.
Students were presented with education pathways to careers in welding and precision machining at FRCC.
