Welcome—or welcome back—to Front Range Community College! Whether you’re stepping onto campus for the first time, returning to finish your degree or taking a few classes to explore a new career path, we’re glad you’re here.
We know that going back to school comes with questions, and sometimes, a little stress. But you’re not alone. FRCC has a wide range of resources and services designed to support you.
Let’s explore some common student concerns and how FRCC can help.
“How do I balance school, work and life?”
Many FRCC students juggle school with jobs, families and other responsibilities. As a matter of fact, 80% of our students are in college part time. At FRCC, you’re part of a thriving, supportive college community. You belong here—and we’ve got you.
Helpful Resources
Academic Advising—Your academic advisor is here to guide you throughout your FRCC journey. They can help you decide on a major, map out the courses needed for your program, develop your educational plan and answer any questions you have along the way.
Online Learning—FRCC’s fully online classes and programs let you learn anytime, anywhere. These flexible online courses make it more convenient to fit school into your busy life.
Choose from one of our 48 programs that you can finish entirely online. We also provide student support—from technology tools to free online tutoring— to make sure you stay on track.
“How am I going to afford this?”
College is an investment, but at FRCC, a high-quality education is affordable. Students save approximately $16,500 by attending FRCC for the first two years of a four-year education. That’s how more than 2/3 of FRCC students are able to graduate without taking on student debt.
Financial Support
Financial Aid—We know the biggest hurdle to finishing your education is just getting started. Our Financial Aid team can help.
With the help of financial aid, you can take the fast track to new opportunities in one of FRCC’s 115 certificate programs, many that can be completed in as little as a semester. Or pursue a degree: College grads earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more over the course of their lives than those without degrees.
Scholarship Opportunities—Last year, FRCC awarded $18 million in scholarships and grants.
Work Study—Gain experience and earn money while staying close to your classes. Work study provides the opportunity to earn a portion of your financial aid assistance by working part-time, either on campus or with participating community-based, partners off campus.
You can work a maximum of 20 hours per week when classes are in session and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
“What if I struggle with classes?”
Academic Support
Academic Success Centers
At FRCC, we want to ensure each and every student is getting the resources they need to succeed. We offer academic assistance to help you understand challenging concepts so you can learn, meet deadlines and feel successful.
At the Academic Success Centers (ASC), get academic help writing papers at our on-campus and online Writing Centers, understanding math concepts through our Math Centers, and developing study, test-taking and time-management skills. You can access the ASC on each FRCC campus, as well as online.
Libraries
With libraries at each of our three campuses, FRCC offers a wide range of library services for students, faculty, staff and, on some campuses, the public.
All campus libraries offer books, articles, textbooks and materials assigned for your classes. You can borrow all of these items for free. Our libraries also subscribe to online databases you can access from anywhere.
Computer Commons
Need to use a computer? FRCC has on-campus computers available for students to use. Just visit the Computer Commons on each campus. All of the computers have internet access and are networked. Students can access the Microsoft Office Suite.
Testing Centers
FRCC has testing centers located at our Boulder County, Larimer and Westminster campuses. We offer a variety of tests—from placement tests to make sure you enroll in the right courses to GED exams for a high school diploma—to both students and the community.
“I’m feeling stressed, overwhelmed or anxious.”
Mental wellness matters, and FRCC prioritizes your health inside and outside the classroom.
Wellness Resources
Free Counseling Appointments with an FRCC Counselor—These are offered on campus or virtually. Our counselor will work with you to determine what services and resources would be most helpful. If your needs fall outside of the scope of our services, we provide referrals to community providers.
Free Drop-In Sessions—FRCC offers brief drop-in sessions on campus as well as by phone. Drop-ins are a 15–20-minute meeting with a counselor to get support, problem solve, learn about services and to make appointments. Students are met on a first-come-first-served basis.
Free Virtual Sessions Through BetterMynd—If you need to schedule outside of regular business hours, are looking for someone with a specific set of expertise or want a counselor who may speak a different language, FRCC has partnered with BetterMynd to offer students access to free video-therapy sessions with their diverse network of licensed mental health counselors.
“Where do I even start?”
If you’re unsure about your goals or major, don’t worry. FRCC has tools to help you figure it out.
