Front Range Community College’s Highway Maintenance Management program and the Colorado Local Technical Assistance Program are hosting the first annual Transportation Workforce Summit this October to help address worker shortages in the industry.

According to a study by the Associated General Contractors of America, 89% of all construction firms report difficulty finding qualified, trained workers. In a rapidly growing industry, now is the time for all the critical stakeholders to discuss shared challenges and opportunities.

This free, remote summit will have two breakout session tracks that focus on:

  • Workforce development and training
  • Hiring & retention

FRCC Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Rebecca Woulfe, PhD, will be a featured speaker at the event through her talk—Addressing the Workforce Crisis: Strategies for Recovery.

Based on her work with industry leaders and community partnerships, Dr. Woulfe will share strategies for how stakeholders can improve their working environments to recruit and retain the workforce they need for today… and tomorrow.

Woulfe brings with her 25 years of experience with the Colorado Community College System. She has led the expansion of work-based learning at FRCC through apprenticeships and internships, while leading development of new programs to address industry needs and expand opportunities for learners.

She has a PhD in higher education leadership from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Arts degree in education with an emphasis in instructional technology from the University of Colorado Denver.
