State-of-the-art laboratory named after Allen Service founders Marion and June Allen.

Fort Collins business owners Jeff and Michael Allen—and their families—are donating $100,000 to Front Range Community College for its Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program. The funds will be distributed in the form of scholarships to HVAC/R students—in addition to supporting the program itself.

The brothers are making the donation in honor of their parents—Marion and June Allen—who founded the family-run heating, cooling and plumbing company Allen Service 59 years ago. In recognition of the financial support for the college, FRCC is renaming the program’s high-tech laboratory the Marion and June Allen HVAC Lab.

“We wanted to give back to our community by helping provide education to help further the trades,” said Jeff Allen, co-owner of Allen Services. “This is our heartfelt thanks to our parents for a lifetime and vision over 60 years now, of building—not just a company—but a culture and who we are.”

“You can’t put your donation in a better place than a community college,” said FRCC Dean of Instruction Nick Spezza. “The return on investment is so high—for the impact on our students, but also for their families and for the broader community.”

The newly named Marion and June Allen HVAC lab is located in the Little Bear Peak building at FRCC’s Larimer Campus in Fort Collins. The FRCC Foundation will manage the donation and scholarships.

About Allen Service

Allen Service first started as a new construction company called Allen Plumbing & Heating in 1962 by June & Marion Allen.

Before plumbing, Marion served in the Korean War, while June attended Bookkeeping School in San Antonio. Marion first learned the plumbing profession from an uncle in South Texas, knowing that someday they wanted to live out an early dream by starting their own business in the trades.

After visiting relatives in Fort Collins, Marion and June saw an amazing opportunity. They realized this was the perfect place to call home, raise their family, and create a great business that develops people.

For 60 years, Allen Service has become “The Name You Know and Trust” because of the work ethic, reputation, and attention to customer service that June and Marion instilled in their family, employees and company culture.

Today, Allen Service has continued to grow and become one of the best-known brands in the home service profession in Colorado. All of which was all created by a husband and wife team who had a vision of bringing a trade to, and giving back to the Fort Collins community where we live, work and play.
