Trio to Perform World Music Feb. 11 at FRCC Gallery in Westminster

The New Shoots Trio will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Visual and Performing Arts Gallery at Front Range Community College.

The gallery is Room C1660 at the Westminster Campus, 3645 W. 112th Ave., Westminster. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

The New Shoots Trio plays global roots music, which finds fresh expression on instruments from around the world. This trio of national touring and recording artists features Sandra Wong, nyckelharpa and fiddle; Ross Martin, guitar; and Greg Tanner Harris, vibraphone, piano, Ghanaian gyil, and world percussion. A nyckelharpa is a traditional Swedish instrument sometimes called a keyed fiddle. A Ghanaian gyil contains wooden slats suspended over gourds.
