Front Range Community College student Mary Palmer was awarded one of Disney Theme Parks & Resorts’ plant science internships, a Disney Professional Internship. Palmer works in the greenhouses within the Living with the Land agricultural attraction at Epcot. Specifically, she is assigned to one of the Land’s experimental growing areas, the Creative House, which displays imaginative methods of growing crops, including hydroponic (without soil) and aeroponic (hanging in the air)  methods.

Palmer earned a certificate in Horticulture from FRCC in May 2012 and is working toward her Associate of Applied Science degree in Horticulture and Landscape Technologies at the Larimer Campus in Fort Collins. She hopes to work in public horticulture and landscape design. She began her career in graphic design and art and has lived and worked around the world. A 25-year resident of the Fort Collins-Loveland area, Palmer ran her own floral design company from 2002 to 2010 before coming to FRCC.
