FRCC Larimer to Confer Degrees, Certificates May 8 at Budweiser Events Center

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Front Range Community College Larimer Campus will confer degrees and certificates during its 2012 Commencement at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, at the Budweiser Events Center, Loveland.

FRCC awards degrees and certificates in the semester they are earned, but holds commencement ceremonies once a year in the spring. Graduates from the summer and fall 2011 semesters and spring 2012 semester may participate.

Bruce Walthers, vice president of FRCC Larimer Campus, is the keynote speaker. Walthers has 30 years of experience in higher education administration. He provides overall leadership for the Larimer Campus, oversees the development of new programs, and maintains relationships with area universities, community organizations, businesses, and school districts. Walthers joined FRCC in January 2012 from Red Rocks Community College, where he was vice president for student services and enrollment management for 11 years.

The main commencement is just one of several events to celebrate student success. Other events include:

  • The 40th annual Recognition Ceremony for FRCC’s College Now and Career Pathways Programs – 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Thompson Valley High School Auditorium, 1669 Eagle Drive, Loveland. About 400 students from the Poudre and Thompson school districts are enrolled in career/technical programs at FRCC. The 5:30 ceremony recognizes the students who completed programs in Ironworking and Industrial Welding, Law Enforcement Exploration, Medical Careers Exploration, Welding and CAD – Design It! Build It!, and Wildlife, Forestry and Natural Resources. The 7:30 program recognizes students who completed programs in Animal Technology and Research, Architecture and Landscape Design, Automotive Technology and Service, Carpentry, and the Culinary Arts-Chef Program.
  • Center for Adult Learning in Fort Collins GED graduation 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Longs Peak Student Center on the Larimer Campus, Harmony Road and Shields Street, Fort Collins. Yolanda Espinoza, registrar at FRCC Larimer Campus, will be the keynote speaker. There will be a reception following the event.
  • Center for Adult Learning in Fort Collins ESL Recognition – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Longs Peak Student Center on the Larimer Campus, Harmony Road and Shields Street, Fort Collins. There will be a reception following the event.
  • Center for Adult Learning in Loveland GED and ESL graduation – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Bill Reed Middle School Auditorium, 370 W. 4th St., Loveland. Bruce Walthers, FRCC Larimer Campus vice president, will be the keynote speaker. There will be a reception following the event.
